First of all i want to tell you that KANSA is a hindi word which mean Bell metal PITAL means BRASS, As we know for the first time kansa was made during Bronze period by our ancestor mixing approximately 1/4 part of Tin and 3/4 part of copper . In India kansa and pital utensils has been made by a sub cast known as kansari, kanser . Thathera etc. who generally belongs to back word class. They makes utensil likes Plate, glass, Vessels using some traditional method.
They are very hard workers, they mainly use their muscle powers and traditional knowledge to produce Bronze , brass utensils, for this purpose i have attached some videos to show their work and how difficult it is .although they work hard there income is very low as compare to other. they are very poor as related to there social and economic condition. But now a day many people of our country and society use mainly steel and fiber utensil which are good to look and easy to clean. This is the main reason whey now a days artisan are facing economic problem because of lack of demand of there product . Although they are self respect and self support still they and there successor bound to work in other institution and do other work
But thanks to our country's tradition that bride's father have to give at least 5 pieces of kansa and or pital bartan (bronze and brass ) to groom as gift . Perhaps this the main reason whey people purchase it. Artisans are still exits . Besides this there are other reason and believe whey people of our country purchase it. Generally villagers of our country purchase it as assets as it has a high resale value . Some people also purchase this utensils for the health purpose. As these utensils are costly , using and eating in these utensils giving us a feelings of ARISTOCRATIC . Do you know whey the kings were eaten in kansa utensils? The reason behind this is that whenever a drop of toxic chemical contact with this metal than the contact point color change into black. Drinking water keep in brass and copper pot is very healthy as essentials elements of zinc and copper dilute in water reacting with air .
So whenever you purchase bronze brass utensils think; you purchase an assets. for your health, feels yourself Aristocrat, and after of all you help Artisans and save there life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2n58BmlaNFE
