As we know, the opposite word of peace is war but in religion point of view, it may be unrest, disturbance, restless. So, the definition of peace is free from disturbances. Telling about peace in the perspective of religion is a broader concept but hear, I describe what I know, reading different books of different religion. Reading many of the religious books, I know that peace of mind generally associate with bliss and happiness.
From the social point of view, peace is a concept of social friendship and harmony in the absence of enmity and violence. Peace is the result of love, faith and forgiveness whereas war is the outcome of aversion, revenge, and pride,
T o days world 29% of people practice Christianity so first of all, we discuss about this religion. From a biblical perspective, the absence of conflict is only the beginning of peace. True peace include personal wholeness, righteousness, political justice, and prosperity for all creation. That's the way God intended things to be when he created his garden, his paradise. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you, I don't give to you as the world give us". (John 14;27 ) Like other religion, Christianity also teaches adherent to be kind, loving, and peaceful toward each other.
Nowadays, due to a handful of Muslim, who indulge in terrorist activities, the whole Muslim society become infamous. Islam is not a religion of fanatical and violence rather it is a religion of peace and forgiveness. The Qur'an contains peace as a common theme as shown in Surah 2;11 v 244 where it speaks of making peace doing good needing to be defended against evil overall

In the Bible, of the Christians traditions, there is a deep concern with peace between God and his people, between people, and with inner and outer peace.
In the Bible it says that " A new command I give you; Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another".
As we know Hinduism is one of the oldest religion of the World and nowadays 14% of world population follow it. Here in Geeta, the meaning of peace and its contribution to the society and people describe elaborately. Here, we discuss only those parts which focused only related to peace.
Adhyay 2 shlok 64;- But the self-control man, moving among objects senses under control and free from attraction and aversion, gains in tranquillity.
Further in Adhyay 2 shlok 65 it describes when he get tranquillity what happen to him As, In tranquillity all his sorrow are destroyed, the intellect of the tranquillity minded, soon becomes steady.
Adhyay 2 shlok 66;- There is neither knowledge nor mediation in the fickle-minded and to the un meditative person there is no peace. Then how can the peace-less person enjoy happiness?
Adhayay2 shlok 70;- As the water enters the ocean which fill from all sides remain undisturbed, likewise he, in whom all object of senses enter, attains peace not desire of objects.
Adhyay 2 shlok 71;- That man who lives devoid on long, freed from all desire and without the feeling of "I" and "Mine" attain peace.
Adhyay 4 shlok 39;- The man of faith, the devoted, and the master of his senses obtains knowledge. Having obtained such knowledge he promptly gain supreme peace.
Adhyay 6 shlok 7;- The supreme one, who is self-controlled and peaceful, is balanced and unperturbed(बेफिक्र) in cold and heat, in pleasure and pain, and in honour and dishonour.
BUDDHA said that destruction of desire is the destruction of sorrow, He realised that peace would come only when the man is happy, ending all suffering. He wanted man to get rid of all malice, hatred, indulgence in lower desire, and evil thought, He wanted to substitute to these with good thought, worthy desire, feelings of charity and compassion and an attitude of serenity and composure.
In Buddhism equanimity or peace of mind is achieved by oneself from the cycle of craving that produce Dukha. So by achieving a mental state where you can detach from all the passion, needs, and wants of life, you free your self and achieve a state of transcendent bliss and well being.

The word. "Islam" means peace as well as "subordination". The word Islam therefore define peace and how it attained.
The Islamic perspective is as well about peace and knowledge and true Muslim are peace-loving people.
In many religion, it said that Eshwar is one ( who live in the heart of all people). So, who worship "God" will attain supreme and permanent peace. In some culture, inner peace is considered a state of mind, consciousness, that may be cultivated by various form of training such as prayer, meditations, yoga etc. Many spirituals practice refer to this peace as an experience of knowing oneself.
